The Fourth Watch

“See that light up there on the hill?” my friend asked me as we were driving up the valley one afternoon.

“Yes,” I replied as I took my eyes off the road to look where she was pointing.

“What color is it?” she asked me.

“Green,” I said, beginning to wonder where this questioning was leading.

“There’s an occult meeting tonight,” she stated simply.

Her words hung heavy in the air as I endeavoured to digest this bit of news. Finally I broke the silence and asked, “Where?”

“A park on the east side of town; want to go see?”

“Now?” I asked.

“No, tonight after midnight; we could drive up there if you want and check it out.”

Questions were racing around my head jostling each other for position to be asked, but only one made it off my tongue, “Will we be safe?”

She looked intently at me for a few seconds and then said, “We’ll just drive by; they’ll have look-outs posted who will report any vehicles that pass on the road. There’s no way we could get back to the sacrificing ground even if I wanted to take you back there. They use horses…” Her voice trailed off and she became quiet, most likely thinking about the days of her own forced involvement in the occult rituals.

We drove past the park later that night; it was all just as she had described. Probably 30 or more cars and trucks, some with horse trailers filled the parking lot. About a mile before the park entrance there was a sentry stationed beside the road that as soon as we had passed we saw her run across the street and go into a house to call the group and let them know someone was on this remote stretch of road so late at night, she had explained. “They’re very careful to keep watch and report anything that seems suspicious,” she said.

The park hours were posted at the gated entrance, ‘Dawn to Dusk’. Dusk had come and gone hours before, but here, behind locked gates, was a parking lot full of cars and trucks with horse trailers. “I told you,” she said, “they come together after midnight and usually go to around 3:00 a.m. It’s always some kind of sacrifice and then a big orgy.”

The devil does seem to like these hours of the darkness; midnight to 3. In ancient times these hours were referred to as the third watch. From Matthew 14:22-33, we find an interesting story:

And immediately He made the disciples get into the boat, and go ahead of Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. And after He had sent the multitudes away, He went up to the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone. But the boat was already many stadia away from the land, battered by the waves; for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were frightened, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.”

And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”

And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

And when they got into the boat, the wind stopped. And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “You are certainly God’s son!”

For the purposes of FLASH PRAYER there are a couple of interesting points to take note of in this story. The first one being that Yashua was on the mountain praying during the third watch in which his disciples were struggling with contrary winds battering their boat around on the sea. Yashua, in prayer, was battling for the purpose of YHVH to be manifest in the earth. The disciples didn’t realize that they were in a battle, but Yashua did, and He knew that only through prayer would the battle be won. The second point to make note of is that it is in the fourth watch of the night, the hours of 3 to 6 a.m. that Yashua came to the disciples, walking on the water, no less!

Yashua had prayed through the third watch while the devil was stirring up the forces of hell in an attempt to thwart the purposes of YHVH, but Yashua prevailed and the contrary winds that were battering the little boat of the disciples immediately subsided when Yashua, with Peter, climbed into the boat.

The purpose of YHVH: The advancement of the Kingdom! Matthew 14:34-36, And when they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret. And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent into all that surrounding district and brought to Him all who were sick; and they began to entreat Him that they might just touch the fringe of His cloak; and as many as touched it were cured.

Remember earlier in Yashua’s ministry that he and His disciples had crossed over the sea to this area and delivered a man possessed by many demons. Yashua commissioned him to go back to his people and proclaim everything that had been done for him; Yashua is now witnessing the fruit of that once demon possessed man’s labor for the kingdom of YHVH.

Satan works feverishly to destroy, or at the least diminish the plans and purposes of YHVH. We must be just as committed to bringing into fruition the plans and purposes of YHVH. We labor in prayer during the third watch to thwart the devil’s schemes and then “walk on the water” in the fourth watch, trusting that our prayers will produce fruit for the glory of the kingdom of YHVH.

So how does this look practically when we consider incorporating this understanding to FLASH PRAYER? (FLASH PRAYER is 3 concentrated minutes per event. FOCUS: volatile situations, assaults on Biblical values, and concerning desperate persons in desperate situations. We discern YHVH’s will and then pray His will back to Him for each event. Remember: Great NEED X’s Great FLOW (A lot of people praying!) = Great POWER!)

PRAYER ALERTS are synonymous with the third watch; it is a time to beseech The Father for victory over the purposes of evil; to turn the hearts of the children to our Heavenly Father; for humankind to turn from wickedness that the devil’s power may not reign over us; that chains of bondage may be broken; curses, incantations, witchcraft, blood sacrifice be released from the land and blessings, peace, YHVH’s presence rest upon us instead.

FLASH PRAYER is synonymous with the fourth watch where darkness is overcome by LIGHT! We rejoice in the victory won at the cross by our Savior, Yashua! We rejoice because the devil’s schemes have been thwarted by the faithfulness of those on their knees calling out to YHVH during the third watch; we trust that our Messiah will walk on the water, in the midst of the storm, to meet us and bring us safely to shore.

I was listening to a radio talk show last week and the host was making the comment that it takes around 5 million people all talking about the same thing before you begin to see change. Is it possible to have 5 million believer’s in Yashua all praying for YHVH’s plans and purposes to become manifest on the earth instead of the devil’s?

If celebrities and sport’s legends can have 5+ million followers cheering them on cannot those who call Yashua their Messiah, have 5+ million, in unison, calling on His Holy Name?

JOIN US! Together, we can thwart the devil’s schemes and save our children.
