Harp and Story

A Birthday and a New Birth Celebration!

We made it to California! Temps are over a 100 down here in the valley, but at least it is dry heat! But heat is heat, wet or dry its still hot!! Steve has spent four long and intense days in the Sound Foundations recording studio of Gene LeSage in Paradise, California.

On his 65th birthday, the 12th of July, Steve finished recording and two beautiful harp CD’s were born! Of course like all newborn babies they have to be cleaned up before they are presented to the family. Our friend Gene will spend this 3rd week of July “mastering” these CD’s and then they will be ready for duplication! recording5

The first CD is Psalms 90 -100 and it is being titled, Living Water. As many of you know, Steve has discovered a mathematical formulation for deciphering musical notes from the Hebrew text. This CD is another of his projects of bringing the Hebrew text to life through the harp. What makes this CD slightly different from his others is that he is accompanying his harp with a selection of other instruments as background fill-in.

The second CD is 5 long-play recordings of chord progressions from the Psalms mixed with sounds of nature; bird song, geese on the lake, night sounds, thunder with rain, river to the sea. This CD is titled: All Nature Sings.

Every time Steve records another harp CD, I have a new favorite! We’ll be sure and let you know when they are ready for distribution!

Then it was birthday celebration time! Gene and his wife Linda joined us for a lunch in the shade of their huge back-yard walnut tree. Caren and Joanne also came up from the valley to join in the fun. It was a good day even though acknowledging one is now on the MediCare roles is a bit off-putting!birthday3

Birthday lunch was Garbanzo Burger Lettuce Wraps with Mango Pico de Gallo and Guacamole. Dessert was Thumbprint Cookies with Blueberry Banana “Ice Cream”. Recipe for Thumbprint cookies follow for those who are interested.
