It’s Not Always What You Think
May 29, 2022
Sometimes it isn’t obvious that what you end up doing is actually what you were supposed to do, but didn’t realize the significance of your obedience until all was said and done. When Steve was invited to speak at a health and wellness conference in West Palm Beach, Florida, we thought it would be similar to the health and wellness conference he had spoken at in November of 2021 in Colorado. Well, we couldn’t have been more wrong! The conference at the West Palm Beach Convention Center over Memorial weekend 2022, attracted close to 2000 paid attendees. In the line-up of speakers Steve was the only one that referred to our Heavenly Father as the Almighty YAHWEH who passionately seeks a one-on-one relationship with us, so much that He, YHVH gave His only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16-17) That YHVH is more than an impersonal blob of cosmic energy to be manipulated to our benefit. That Yeshua is the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father, YAHWEH, except through Him.
As I sat at our table and watched people come and go I noted that there were basically three groups of people attending this conference; one group were practitioners seeking out the latest techniques, tips and tricks of the trade and the other group were those seeking healing from the various offerings. And then there were the looky-loos. The practitioners mostly avoided us, those who came for healing took home our CD’s and the looky-loos talked. They said they were Christians, albeit searching and/or disgruntled Christians, and didn’t really know why they had come to this conference; they were ambivalent about the new-age spirituality being presented, but had felt drawn to come. They appreciated Steve being so forth-right in his presentation putting GOD first and foremost and The One, not one among many.
YAHWEH gave us many opportunities to share His love, help show His path, confirm His Oneness and Almighty sovereignty, and tie His scripture together as in you
can’t have one without the other! There were a couple stand-out things for me, one is that as a searching and/or disgruntled Christian attending a “new age” conference you are on dangerous ground susceptible to being sucked in to the “cosmic consciousness” vortex. The other is, if the church, YAHWEH’s body of born-again believers were practicing and living Matthew 10, these wandering, lost souls wouldn’t need to seek out suspect alternatives.
Everyone we met and had interaction with was sincere, kind and thoughtful. The major difference that we took note of is that we want, desire, NEED a personal relationship with our Creator whereas the focus of the conference seemed to be on developing and expanding one’s human potential with emphasis on the created to reach a higher consciousness. Even though it wasn’t an event we would have knowingly chosen to attend, it was where YAHWEH wanted us to be to shine His LIGHT in the darkness.
