The Rich Ruler’s Agony
He had everything, money, position, power, and he wanted one thing more, to be a follower of Yashua/Jesus. I’m sure, he said, that He can benefit by a man of my wealth, position and power. And so the rich ruler goes seeking Yashua. He finds Yashua surrounded by a large crowd of people, but the crowd parts for the rich ruler allowing him to come into Yashua’s presence and kneel before him. Yashua is not distracted by the rich ruler’s wealth or seemingly humble questioning, He cuts right to the heart of the rich ruler and tears away all the pretense and posturing and exposes his soul. The rich ruler cannot accept this stark, but compassionate reality of truth and flees from the presence of the Man of God. In agony of spirit he spends three days in a hell of his own making before the truth of Yashua breaks through his clouded pain-racked mind. It’s not what you can do for Me, but who, what I Am in you that counts. No greater love than this that a man lay down his life for his friend. Will you lay down your life for Yahsua? He wants you, not your wealth, your power or your position. Just you, surrendered to Him so He can mold you and make you into His image, refined as silver is refined. What a wonderful story of redemption!
