The Road to Emmaus
Three days previous their beloved Messiah was crucified, nailed to an execution stake and then laid to rest in a tomb that was newly carved into the rock, a tomb in which no one had yet been laid. Two disciples are walking from Jerusalem to Emmaus, heartbroken and discouraged, disappointment heavy on their hearts and minds when they are met on the road by an unexpected traveler who explains the Messianic prophecies of Isaiah to them. As they listen to the traveler explain the scriptures their hearts are encouraged and they trade their sorrow for rejoicing. It is not until they invite the traveler to dine with them and he picks up the bread to give the Baruch that their eyes are open and they realize that they have been with the resurrected Yashua/Jesus all along. How our hearts warmed and thrilled to his explanations they said to each other, we must go and tell the others that the Messiah is risen. And so they journey back to Jerusalem to share the good news. That is what the Messiah, our Savior does, He trades our sorrows for rejoicing! Let him speak words of truth and love to you today – just ask.
