Travel Journal 2018 Good- bye North Woods
I realize it has been a while since I posted, but between lack of adequate internet connection, in mortal combat with mosquito squadrons, and just plain ole fashioned table fellowship, not to mention traveling north to Wisconsin then back south to Iowa and now west toward Reno, Nevada for Shabbat, we have been hard pressed to find writing time; but the roads of Nebraska stretch long and straight and there are still miles to go before we rest tonight, so here goes!
We made a quick trip to Wisconsin the last week of June. We spent a few days with Dean and Susan Wheelock at their home, Beit Shalom, in the Northwoods where we enjoyed kayaking on the Pestigo River. Thankfully, the mosquito squadrons plan their ambushes from the bushes that line the river and don’t follow you out onto the water!
Our beautiful, young friend, Shawna Dose joined us for our trip to Wisconsin. She is a very talented musician and worship leader. Shawna also was responsible for conceiving and bringing to birth the vision of Proclaim Music Festival held the second weekend of June. Shawna also led worship for the Appleton fellowship where Steve and I shared Harp and Story.
Sunday we were with our friends at Upper Room Family Church in Elcho, Wisconsin and Monday morning saw us headed back to Iowa to drop Shawna at her home and continue our journey toward California.
We did make a small detour to spend a “too short” bit of time with our very good friends, John and Kelly Mills at their home in Colorado. A lot of thunder activity with ping pong ball size hail today, but thankfully the storms passed us by!
We will be in Reno, Nevada this weekend celebrating Shabbat with the McHenry fellowship. And then California where Steve will be in the recording studio with our friend Gene LeSage putting together two new Harp CDs.
Thank you all for your prayers for safety in travel — they are greatly appreciated!
Next post will be about the other very special thing we did while in Wisconsin!
